About PIweb

PIweb is a web application used to access and modify product and document data in the PLM system PRIM. PIweb is intended for replacing the Windows-installed desktop application PIwin which has been in operation since 1993.

PIwin needs to be phased out while it is based on Visual Basic 6 which is no longer supported.

Challenges

Replacing PIwin, PIweb has to be designed with the goal to facilitate updates and provide a multi-platform interface by making it a web application.

Also, required to provide internal software which acts as a backend application to provide help content and notifications for the PIweb.

Ideas

To Modernize the interface but keep resemblance to PIwin, to minimize the need for training for PIwin Users.
Need to explicit the same operations and functionalities of the old software.
To make the existing users feel user-friendly in the new environment.
To create a new user-friendly web-based application that helps the Ecrisson user internally to send timely notifications and help content.
